For their 34th edition, the European Heritage Days will take place on 16th and 17th of September on the theme "Youth and heritage".

Like every year, the châteaux of the Drôme are taking part in this national event. They will be open free-of-charge from 10am to 6pm. A programme of visits, meetings and exhibitions in connection with the theme will be available all weekend.

    In accordance with the theme Youth and Heritage, surprises will be added to the usual visit such as a writing chamber in the Sévigné style and a musical atmosphere to try ballet dancing in the gallery. In each room, our staff will be there to answer questions and present their own selection of works from the castle's collection.

    Exhibition "Sévigné, writer of the Great Century"
    From 25th May to 22nd October 2017
    The first exhibition entirely devoted to Mme de Sévigné reveals the journey of this famous letter writer between Paris, Grignan and Vitré and explores the birth of a myth.

    The restoration project in Grignan: phase 1
    This year, a unique guided tour visit will reveal the site of restoration of the well courtyard initiated at the beginning of 2017. This operation which concerns in particular the rehabilitation of the 3 elevations of the Renaissance courtyard, is part of the overall restoration project of the castle.This visit will be an opportunity to enter the building site, observe the degradation of the building, understand the restoration choices and appreciate the meticulous work carried out by highly skilled craftsmen. It will also be an opportunity to meet a stonecutter who will present his craft.

    Chateau of Suze-la-Rousse

    Built on a rocky headland, the medieval fortress of Suze-la-Rousse is a spectacular military construction protected by towers and walls. It was transformed in the 16th and in the 18th century into a great residence.

    A young aristocrat's education

    In accordance with the Youth and Heritage theme, the chateau of Suze-la-Rousse invites you to discover the principles of a young aristocrat's education at the time of the Renaissance, involving encyclopedic knowledge, sport and arts.

    • During the Renaissance, theater played an important role in the formation of a young nobleman. The Haut parleurs company will offer fun exercises around voice, public speaking and memory training. Saturday and Sunday at 2:15pm, 3:15pm, 4:15pm and 5:15pm.
    Based in Saint Paul Trois Châteaux, the company runs theater and slam workshops for children and teenagers in school and out-of-school environments.     • The castle and its collections make it possible to approach different aspects of noble education: leisure with the game of palm, learning good manners with the rocaille dining room or the education of girls with a 17th century bust of Minerva. Thematic guided tour (15 min.) On Saturday and Sunday at 10:30am, 11am, 11:30am, 12pm, 2pm,2:30pm, 3pm, 3:30pm, 4pm, 4:30pm and 5pm.

    Adhemars' chateau

    A former medieval palace towering over the city of Montelimar, the Adhemars' chateau hosts a Pop Art exhibition with artworks by Nicolas Saint Grégoire and Frédéric Bouffandeau.

    Free entrance to the castle and the Pop Art exhibition.
    Guided tour of the castle: frequent starts from 10:30am. Duration : 30 minutes.
    Free access to the Pop Art workshop to enjoy your creative streak.

    In the park:
    The Société Archéologique et Numismatique de la Drôme (SAND) installs a medieval camp.  Free animations from 10am to 6pm.
