For the 19th year, the château of Grignan is hosting a beautiful programme of contemporary jazz in its magnificent room, the Adhémars' gallery. An opportunity to listen to a wide range of music, from jazz classics to contemporary pieces.

This year, Ana Carla Maza, the trio Sclavis, Pifarély and Courtois, Grégory Privat trio, Serge Lopez & Kiko Ruiz will ravish the public in the Adhemars' gallery.

The vaulted Tinel room with its cosy and subdued atmosphere has been transformed into a dance floor. The guests this year: Belzaii (for an after following Ana Carla Maza's concert) and DJ Dunya. It is also the place where people gather after the concerts for an informal drink with the artists.

Suitable for non French speakers.

    Trio Sclavis, Courtois, Pifarély

    Asian Fields Variations

Three great instrumentalists get together to achieve a magnificent symbiosis. The inspiration and obvious references to chamber music of the early twentieth century nourish these musicians, filled with energy, freedom and maturity.

On the initiative of Sclavis, the trio has developed and composed this opus of intimist music. Chamber music by the instruments, since neither is frankly rhythmic, but also by inspiration. The first track, "Mont Myon", in three parts, sets the tone: the bass clarinet of Louis Sclavis and the cello in basso continuo introduce this fascinating music, soft and yet vigorous. Great musicians, they achieve a great symbiosis. The soaring violin of Pifarély, always stunning by their invention and elegance (in "Asian Fields" for example), lead us into an enthusiastic world. References to the early 20th century music are obvious (the call of the forest in "FifteenWeeks", among others) and feed the musicians. Their energy, freedom and maturity deliver an absolutely magical and rich music.

Louis Sclavis, clarinet and bass clarinet
    Dominique Pifarély, violin
    Vincent Courtois, cello

    Cello

    Ana Carla Maza

Ana Carla Maza is radiant. Alone on stage, she is perfectly in sync with her cello. This sensual musician unfolds a range of colors and sensations, alternating caresses and storms. In the difficult exercise of the solo concert, this very young artist has imposed her natural energy. From the Brazilian bossa nova to the Cuban habanera, her voice, inhabited and mastered at the same time, is wonderful. She dares a few songs in French, including a stunning interpration of "La Javanaise" by Gainsbourg. The acoustic cello, electric cello and a Rhoder are her stage companions: melodic and rhythmic, they perfectly emphasize her voice.

After of Ana Carla Maza concert only: Belzaii

Gypsy jazz quartet whose songs are influenced by swing, be-bop, klezmer, bossa, baroque, modal, ... The idea of the project is to open the doors to all the influences nourishing each of the musician's individualities. After more than a hundred concerts and the recording of a first album, "Quai Saint-Georges", released in May 2017, Belzaii stands for a music that is both demanding and accessible, generous and sincere.
