This summer, you have a date under the stars with L'Avare de Molière!

The 36^th edition of the Fêtes nocturnes presents L’Avare de Molière. A jubilant comedy with cascading intrigues, where the old Harpagon does not skimp on lies, low blows and impostures to satisfy... his incurable greed!

In a refined scenography, Jérôme Deschamps gives the leading role to the great art of Molière and mischievously embodies the ferocious Harpagon, whose humanity he reveals. Major artist of French theater, grand-nephew of Jacques Tati, he is also the creator of the cult series Les Deschiens. He surrounds himself with a brilliant troupe of ten actors, magnified by the costumes of Macha Makeïeff.

Burlesque, quirky and wacky to perfection, this Miser has something to delight the spectators in the starry nights of the Château de Grignan!

Staging

Jérôme Deschamps is an actor and director, trained at the school of rue blanche, at the national conservatory of Paris and at the Comédie-Française. Major artist regularly rewarded, he notably received 5 Molières. He founded with Macha Makeïeff a theater company with which they created more than 20 shows in France and abroad. We also owe them the cult television series Les Deschiens. Together they were appointed artistic directors of the Nîmes theater in 2003.

From 2007 to 2015, Jérôme Deschamps took over the management of the national theater of the Opéra Comique in Paris, to which he gave an international reputation and where he founded the academy of the Opéra Comique.
Grand-nephew of Jacques Tati, he works on the restoration, conservation and distribution of all the films of the great filmmaker. In 2013 the entire catalog of Jacques Tati was restored under his watchful eye.
In 2016, he founded the Jérôme Deschamps company and directed Bouvard et Pécuchet and Le Bourgeois gentilhomme. L’Avare is his last show. For Grignan, the room is the subject of a re-creation to fit into the heritage setting of the site and adapt to the outdoors.
