In the aftermath of the storming of the Bastille, new prisons sprang up... the one in Montélimar was set up in its castle, a palace bearing witness to past splendour and grandeur. The castle then took on a new function and was transformed into a place of imprisonment.
Today, this part of history is still shrouded in ignorance and mystery,
which fuels fear and denial, but also curiosity and fascination.
